long haul business RG vs. LH - experiences?

  • Im looking for comparisons/experiences between LH and RG in business class. Any experiences/advice would be appreciated.

  • I'm not sure what you mean, Toxa. I read the thread, but I'm uncertain about the opposite point of view.

    For domestic Brazil flights (even 1.5 hour flights) Varig's meals in coach are better than anything UA, AA, DL, CO, etc. serves in business class. (presentation aside) Their endless rolling bar service is great too. The only things I don't like about RG are the MD11s, Smiles, and the prices for domestic Brazil travel. I almost always use awards for RG.

    Sorry, maybe I was not clear. What I mean is, despite a few round trips in which I have no complains, I do not like RG's service.

    That's why I don't give them my business since long time, but for short POA/GRU flights. Maybe things changed, but RG already lost me.

    I only flew LH twice to FRA many years ago (in coach), but at that time it was so bad I vowed never to fly them again. I'd probably give them another try now, but have no plans to go where they go.

    I was speaking of business class on Varig. I don't know how many inches it is, but it is comparable to UAs new business product. As for coach especially on the MD11s, it is as you say, terrible.

    I think it's horrible......maybe 31" at best and when the seat backs are upright.....they are virtually upright......it's veeerrryyy uncomfortable.


  • I have no comparison between RG/LH but I have tried RG/UA/NZ.

    In RG I definitely not like the seat, UA reclines more and RG does not have individual TVs, though they compensate by offering you a portable DVD to choose from a selection of movies available in the aircraft.
    MD11 configuration in Business is 2-3-2.
    RG and NZ services are pretty similar, that is, Excellent. UA service I found it too practical and too simple, if you know what I mean.
